CREATIVE CLUELESS HALLOWEEN COSTUME IDEAS
Ding! My phone went off and there was a new group text from Sarah to Tamryn and I.
“Do you guys want to do a Halloween inspired shoot all together? I was thinking “Clueless theme” would be fun!”
“Um, yes!!”
Didn’t have to tell us twice! We were ALL in, and thus began 30 texts back and forth about outfit ideas, shoot locations and what designer shopping bags we would bring with us as props for our best Cher Horowitz impression. I LOVE dressing up. I love a theme, I love a costume. I love it all! When I was in my teens and twenties I would make all my costumes and sometimes take months to do it. (ah to be young and have endless free time again!) I also wish I had saved some of my halloween costume photos, because I gotta say, some of them were pretty epic.
After having kids though, our costume options have been quite different. One year Eric and I were two bananas to match Grace’s monkey costume. This year we are heading out on the town to fight crime as the Incredibles family. And while I am endlessly excited to be elastic girl (duh!), I have to say, doing this fun shoot with the girls was such a thrill!
I watched Clueless for the first time after moving to the US from Belarus. It had already been out for a few years, so I was a bit late to the party but I was still sucked in big time. I watched the closet scene (where Cher has the music montage while picking out the perfect outfit for school) a hundred times, wishing my own closet would anything close to that. I practiced my valley girl speak, mixed with my at the time thick Russian accent. I wanted to be Cher!
Turns out Sarah and Tamryn were just as obsessed! I gotta say, I think we did good here! The best thing was that during the shoot we all full on got into character, major attitude and all. It was amazing. So amazing in fact, that we currently have a new text thread going, to plan our holiday shoot together! So stay tuned for that loves!
