The Ultimate Bermuda Travel Guide

Last March, we had the chance to visit Bermuda for the first time, and it instantly became my top tropical getaway recommendation—a place I would return to again and again. Whether you’re looking for a romantic escape, a family vacation, or an adventure with friends, Bermuda has something for every kind of traveler, depending on the time of year you visit.

This trip was particularly special because it was a dual experience for me, allowing me to see and explore the island from multiple perspectives. In this guide, I’ll cover where to stay, standout restaurants, must-visit attractions, and the best times of year to visit.

Our trip began in early March, starting with a few kid-free days for Eric and me, followed by an exciting transition into a working girls’ trip with a group of influencer friends. I joined Sail to Sable to help launch Jennifer Lake’s latest capsule collection with the brand—an opportunity I’ll always be grateful for. (A huge thank you to Jenn and STS for including me on this unforgettable trip! You can find more about Bermuda and her many capsule collections with Sail to Sable HERE.)

Now, let’s dive in! First up—where to stay.

WHERE TO STAY

St. Regis Bermuda Resort

If you’re looking for the a luxury hotel experience in Bermuda, St. Regis Bermuda Resort is the place to stay. It’s one of the newer properties on the island, opened in May 2021, located in the historic town of St. George’s, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Unlike some of the other major resorts located near Hamilton or the western side of the island, St. Regis offers a more secluded and tranquil setting, making it ideal for those who want a a peaceful retreat while still being close to key attractions like Tobacco Bay and Fort St. Catherine. In fact, this was my favorite part of choosing this property. I loved feeling like we were a world away, while just a quick 10 minute uber ride to the colorful town of St.George’s.

WHAT STOOD OUT:

The gorgeous Oceanfront location sits on a pristine stretch of pink-sand beach, and has absolutely breathtaking views of the ocean and direct beach access. It truly looks and feels like you are in a photoshop rendering which cannot be real!

We loved the ocean facing Infinity Pool and Hot Tub, which give the illusion of flowing seamlessly into the ocean, providing the perfect spot for relaxation. We started every evening by joining the daily Sparkling Wine Sabering Ceremony: Each evening, guests can experience a sophisticated champagne sabering ritual, where a bottle of bubbly is dramatically opened with a saber as the sun sets over the ocean—an elegant tradition unique to St. Regis properties. The on-site restaurant is beautiful and serves gourmet seafood and international cuisine. We especially loved the craft cocktails. The St. Regis resort offers a full-service spa and signature St. Regis butler service, with wonderful attention to detail. The hotel is steps away from Fort St. Catherine, St. Peter’s Church, and Tobacco Bay, and a quick taxi ride into town, where we loved walking the cobble streets and marveling at all the pastel buildings. I still talk about how I wish every town had all of their houses painted in happy bright colors like Bermuda does! Finally the biggest standout at the property was the staff and service. This is what makes or breaks a property in my opinion, and the staff here over-exceeded our expectations. I would come to find out that Bermuda is like this overall. Its people are easy going, take pride in their work, and truly make the visitors feel like they are sharing a piece of their home with them.

While the St.Regis was perfect for our quiet couples getaway, If you want a more on-the-go experience with lots of shopping and restaurants nearby, I would recommend staying in Hamilton, which also offers fabulous hotel options. A few that we got to check out are below.

Other Top Hotel Recommendations in Bermuda

Hamilton Princess & Beach Club (“The Princess”)

I had the chance to visit this property for one of our campaign photo shoots and enjoy lunch there. Known for its vibrant pink exterior and rich history, the Hamilton Princess & Beach Club is a landmark in Hamilton, Bermuda, and an Instagram-worthy must-see. Highlights include the iconic pink Photo Booth and pink walls, both popular tourist photo spots. With its private marina, art-filled interiors, and luxury spa, this hotel is perfect for those who want to be near Bermuda’s best shopping and dining. Think girls’ trip or a fun group couples’ vacation!

This hotel has been welcoming guests since 1885! Some of the standouts include a private beach club with shuttle service, an impressive art collection, featuring works from Warhol, Picasso, and Banksy, as well as a very lively atmosphere with great dining, including the famous 1609 Bar & Restaurant. As I mentioned earlier, this is a  convenient location for exploring Hamilton’s restaurants, nightlife, and shopping.

The Loren at Pink Beach

We spent an afternoon at The Loren at Pink Beach, (planning on staying there next time!) enjoying lunch by the pool and soaking in the beauty of the serene beach below, which accessible via a staircase that offers the most breathtaking ocean views, where we made a point to snap some photos. This contemporary coral hued boutique hotel is known for its sleek architecture and commitment to sustainability. We loved its tranquil vibe and the farm-to-table Maree restaurant. This hotel would be great for first time parents traveling with a baby. I little quiet oasis to enjoy with your little one.

Things to do:

bermuda’s best beaches

There are approximately 34 beaches in Bermuda, so there is no shortage of incredible options. Here are our top three.

  1. Horseshoe Bay Beach
Horseshoe Bay is Bermuda’s most famous beach for a reason! It was a must see for us, and I could have spend the entire day there. Its soft pink sand, dramatic limestone cliffs, and clear turquoise water create an unforgettable setting. While it’s a hotspot for tourists in peak season, we had the whole beach almost fully to ourselves in early March. It was blissfully quiet, letting us truly take in its beauty. The water is a bit cooler in spring, but the peaceful atmosphere, soft ocean breeze, and endless photo opportunities make it magical. We loved exploring the hidden coves and rock formations along the shoreline, where the waves create little tide pools. Even made a little crab friend.
  2. Jobson’s Cove
This beach feels like a secret little paradise. It is tucked between limestone cliffs and has shallow, calm water, as it is naturally protected from big waves. The cliffs also make for an incredible backdrop—especially at sunset, so definitely add this one to your photo spots!

  3. Tobacco Bay Beach
Located near St. George’s, (right by the St.Regis Hotel) Tobacco Bay Beach is known for its crystal-clear, shallow water and unique rock formations. This wasn’t a top choice for photos for us, but was great for hanging out and having drinks, as it has a lively, laid-back vibe. There is a beach bar and rental options for snorkeling gear, kayaks, and paddle-boards, so this is a good family option.

CRYSTAL CAVES

Bermuda has over 150 known caves, but the most famous and accessible ones are Crystal Cave and Fantasy Cave in Hamilton Parish. While many other caves exist, most are either difficult to access, located on private property, or not open to the public. Another one worth checking out is Cathedral Cave at Grotto Bay Beach Resort, which features a swimmable underground pool. However, Crystal and Fantasy Caves remain the most well-developed and tourist-friendly options.

While the Fantasy cave is known for a “frozen waterfall”, The Crystal Cave, is larger and more famous of the two, and the one we visited. It has a sort of magic that is hard to describe in words, and honestly even in photos. We got incredibly lucky and were the only ones in our “group”. Our guide said that typically, during high tourist season, they take in groups of about 40 people for each tour. Being able to take in this magic place with just Eric was one of the most unforgettable experiences we’ve had together during our travels. Not to mention, being able to snap photos we would have otherwise never been able to get! If you visit during the summer, I recommend going as early in the morning as possible, to try to avoid crowds.

WHERE TO DINE

Living in the Bay Area, and both having worked in the hospitality/restaurant/wine and spirits industry, Eric and I always try to keep an open mind when it comes to traveling and food. We are lucky to have had countless incredible dining experiences in many parts of the worlds, and though there is a lot to compare to, I thought the overall food scene in Bermuda was good. The fine dining experiences we had were fabulous (dinner at Harbourfront Restaurant with the girls was fabulous!) and the more casual meals at spots like Wahoo’s Waterside Bistro & Patio, were fresh and well prepared. You can tell how much the locals pride themselves on everything about their home. In fact, if I had just one takeaway which made me want to come back to Bermuda again and again, it was the atmosphere of the locals. There was a general joy. A laid back vibe, as if they’ve all figure out something about life, us forever busy city people just can’t seem to grasp. This vibe set the tone for the trip and gave us a sense of true relaxation by the time we got on the plane home. Thanks for your fabulous tranquility and beauty Bermuda! It’s no wonder they call you “BERMUTIFUL”.
