Right before New Year’s comes around, every influencer starts sharing their favorite sequin dresses, jumpsuits and all things sparkly you need to celebrate in. But now that the holidays have come and gone, do you just retire that special piece to the back of your closet for eternity, never to be seen again? Nope! At least not in this girls’ closet! Today I wanted to show you a few ways to style a sequin dress after the holidays. My rule with a piece like this whimsical Anthropologie dress (currently 70% off by the way!!) is to make it the star of the show and build the outfit around it. Meaning, try not to go crazy with adding statement earring and a necklace and a headband etc. The key is to tone it down, not look like insanely over the top…only Iris Apfel can pull that off. For the rest of us, think classic and muted. I love adding some layers like a belted blazer or cardigan. A belt takes a bit of the attention off of all the sparkle and creates another focal point. A good moto jacket is another go to with a sequin dress. Nothing like a mix of girlie and edgy! Finally, I love layering a crisp white shirt under a short sleeve dress.
