I’ve been getting lots of questions about my hair routine lately, and of course some requests for a fun braid tutorial. So, I wanted to take you on a little hair journey with me from day one of clean and sleek to day 5 of well, quite savage. While my overall daily routine has changed big time, with being at home the past 8 weeks, my hair routine has stayed the same. Dry shampoo is my best friend, and there’s a new favorite duo I have  been absolutely loving!

Pantene introduced their new Waterless Collection a bit ago and I was immediately intrigued with their Never Tell Dry Shampoo Spray and Mist Behaving Dry Conditioner Mist. Especially the dry conditioner mist! Using a dry conditioner has been my secret weapon forever, but I’ve always had to splurge on really expensive brands, because 1) they were the only ones making it, and 2) the few cheaper alternatives I found were no good. So, this had me cautiously optimistic. And what do you know?! I’m obsessed! But more on that later. First, let’s get to the hair!

Day One: Straight & Sleek

Fun fact, if you see me with straight blown out, freshly sleek hair, it’s always on a wash day! Day one for me means breaking out the blow dryer and going with my naturally stick straight hair for 24 hours. Usually any longer and I get bored. Though I don’t use dry shampoo during day one, the dry conditioner mist definitely gets some use! I spray my ends right after blow drying to add some moisture and make the hair sleeker and glossier. If I want to add a little volume, I spray just a touch of dry shampoo to the front part of my roots.

Day Two: Messy Beach Waves

Well, I’m not heading to the beach anytime soon, but you can’t take messy beach waves away from the girl even if she’s just couch surfing! Day two is usually when I break out my curling wand and give my super straight hair some volume. This is where the Never Tell Dry Shampoo Spray comes in! I use just a touch before I curl my hair, followed by circular motions with my fingers at the root, to give my hair some body. I repeat this after my hair is all done and cooled down as well, followed by the dry conditioner mist on the ends.

Day Three: The Half Updo

Day three is when my hair usually starts to get pretty oily so doing a half updo buys me a few more days of wear. I start by spraying all my roots with dry shampoo, yes front hair flip, bent over and all. I leave it alone, to soak up all the oil and then brush through and massage the scalp to get some volume going. Then the fun part, either a half fishtail braid or just a simple pony with a brooch, this is one of my favorites because there are so many little variations you can do. I add a few curls to give the hair a freshened-up look and I’m ready to roll……downstairs to my home office.

Day Four: Halo Dutch Braid

You asked for it, you got it! I had to throw a fun braid in the mix! When I was rushing out the door daily to head out to work, I somehow still managed to do a braid like this at least once a week. So now, I truly have no excuse to have a little more braid fun! This braid is easier to do than you would think. Head over to my IG highlights under ‘PANTENE’ to view a tutorial!  The prep here is important, so your hair is not “too clean” and not too greasy and dirty. I apply the Never Tell Dry Shampoo Spray to my roots the night before as usual, but since it’s day four I also do a full root spray in the morning, followed by just a bit of blow drying the hair, to really get that oil to soak up. This is where your dry conditioner mist becomes your best friend! If you are going to push it with your wash days, you HAVE TO moisturize your hair in between. Otherwise just using dry shampoo will lead to your hair getting overly dry and might cause some breakage. Now let me go back to why I love this particular one so much. 1) As I mentioned it is SO affordable. I go through this stuff like water, so it makes a huge difference to know I can order multiples at a time and not break the bank! 2) The light scent. I am extremely scent sensitive and it drives me absolutely nuts when a good product has an overly strong scent. In fact, I will never use it again, no matter the cost. This duo has the lightest airy fresh scent, that is perfectly faint. I was so excited about that when I sprayed it the first time, I had to text my bestie and let her know the good news! 3) No residue. This is another biggie for me. Even though I am blonde, I still get annoyed with the white residue many dry shampoos leave on your hair. Especially when it’s day 4 or 5 and you have to use quite a bit. Pantene Never Tell Dry Shampoo leaves none of that, while doing the job. And as I mention, use this shampoo/conditioner as a duo if you truly want to keep your hair healthy! Whew, that was a mouthful but what can I say, I’m a dry shampoo fanatic!

Day Five: Fun Piggy Buns

Let’s be honest, by day 5 I am truly pushing it. But this is also when my hair is at its most pliable, so I try to give it one more day of fun! I love this easy piggy bun look because it’s beyond simple, while making your hair look like you’ve spent an hour on it. To prep I take the same steps I did for day four before putting my hair into two ponytails. The dry conditioner mist is important not to forget here because your ends will get wrapped around and pinned down, making them susceptible to damage. I think of the spray as a little shield. Then you just go to town doing a half pull through and adding pins. (tutorial also saved in my highlights HERE). The best part about this whole collection is that it’s free of alcohols, sulfates and parabens!

And now we’ve come full circle! The wash cycle starts all over again and I’m back to my sleek do. I hope these little tips were helpful and I do want to reiterate how important your prep routine is to be able to achieve any look. You can find the Pantene Waterless Collection using my link here and I’d love to see your own #BanTheBun looks! As always, I am happy to answer any questions. Have the best day!
