CELEBRATING A SPECIAL OCCASION WITH A HOME MADE CHARCUTERIE BOARD

It was my parent’s 47th wedding anniversary the other day and I wanted to make it as special as possible for them, Covid style! Though we live 5 minutes from each other I have been very adamant about us only visiting each other if we sit in the backyard and always while wearing a mask. So, what’s a girl to do, for a celebration?! Well, after racking my brain for something more exciting than yet another backyard dinner I hatched a little plan to make a chic little picnic for them and make it a surprise. I’ve always wanted to put together a big ole homemade charcuterie board and this felt like the perfect occasion for it. So, I got to work and bought all of their favorite goodies and put this finished look together. I have to say, it was very labor intensive, which I don’t at all mind, but if you’re a first timer, be sure to either pre batch everything that needs to be diced and sliced or give yourself extra time. I was definitely rushing to get these photos before piling this set up into my car! I packed champagne, my dad’s favorite beer and some extra treats for the girls and drove to the cutest little spot with a huge weeping willow by the water to set up our surprised. It was such a perfect afternoon! We reminisced on some memories of my parents’ marriage and our family throughout the years, the girls listening and snacking on all the goodness on the blanket. I just wanted to take it all in and enjoy these fleeting little moments when the world just feels so so good. My heart was full as I drove home, and yes, my stomach even fuller.
