I am so lucky to live in the Bay Area, where an epic view or a hidden gem of a photo shoot location is just a 20 minute drive in any direction, that I sometimes take the beauty of these special spots for granted. Welcome to the Pulgas Water Temple, a true gem nestled in the heart of California’s Bay Area. This shoot was such a special one for me, working with Senreve, a brand I have been a huge fan of for years, that I thought I would share the details of this special setting. There was truly something magical about it, that gave both myself and my photographer/videographer Kasey this surge of creative energy. If you have an event on the books like your wedding or family photos, this would truly be a perfect location for a photo shoot.
As you approach the temple, the first thing you notice is the façade and just how quiet and peaceful it is. The interior is equally breathtaking. As you step inside, you are greeted by a beautiful mosaic mural that tells the story of the water system and its significance in the history of California. I recommend choosing a cloudy day (if you have an option) or planning your shoot in the second part of the day, just before golden hour. The sun hits quite harshly here in the morning and the shadows don’t always work in your favor.
One of the things that struck me about the Pulgas Water Temple is its peaceful setting. The temple is situated in a park-like setting and surrounded by greenery with a stunning large tranquil pool like pond. It’s the perfect place to pack a chic little picnic or just let your kiddos run around and let their energy out while you take in all the zen.
