Ever since I was a little girl all I wanted was long thick hair. My mom will attest to the fact that I would wrap scarves around my head and then run around, making everyone look at my ‘braids’. I would measure my hair and tell my mom ‘look, I think it’s touching my back now!’. All this from a girl with the finest thin little blondie locks you’ve ever seen. But hey, a girl can dream.
Fast forward a few decades and I all my hair dreams have finally come true. You think I’m being facetious, but honestly for someone who’s had hair envy her whole life, discovering some amazing hair tricks and tools has made me one happy girl! First, tape in extensions by Hotheads. I discovered this brand through my hair stylist Loren, whom I swear by.
This type of extension is quite literally taped (with a type of double sided tape) into your hair, and lasts for 5-6 weeks. After that the same hair can be reused, it just needed to be ‘pushed up’ or re-taped in. I’ve had other types of extensions before, mainly ‘beaded’ ones which had completely destroyed my hair (and I mean literally pulled out half of it!) because they tend to be heavier and my fine thin hair just couldn’t withstand the weight.
I’ve had the tape ins in consistently for almost a full year now and really don’t think I’ll ever use any other method.
Now wait there’s more! Because apparently, I am never satisfied with the amount of hair I have, I wanted to get something that would get me even more thickness and length. When I shoot photos for this blog I love being able to do some fun, more intricate hair styles and like most gals I know, I’m completely obsessed with scrolling through Pinterest hair style inspo boards. Having the band has been a total game changer for me in regards to the different hair styles I can do and making each look worlds better. Thicker braids, more length to play around with, honestly, I am such a fan!
