I have always been partial to a good suit. Way before working in a corporate environment of liquor and wine sales, that was a chunk of my career prior to blogging full time. Back in college, I was always choosing to design and sew a blazer, (my degree is in fashion design) when we were given free rein on a pattern drafting assignment. Then also always cursing myself for picking the hardest possible thing, and pulling all nighters to get it done. But that’s another story.
As we started to come out of quarantine, I noticed myself leaning toward a suit over a dress to wear to the events I was attending, pretty much every time in the past months. And from hearing feedback from you guys on IG, it seems that a good spring suit is a must for a lot of you this season as well, so I thought I would do a round up of some affordable favorites today from Express. It’s one of my top go-to’s for suiting. The fit is always great and they do an excellent job of offering fun colors and great fabrics. When I first started browsing the new arrivals, this blush linen suit got me the most excited. It’s actually even better in person. The linen fabric is goooood. Then this white silky blazer and pant combo really took it up a notch. It’s from the new Rachel Zoe x Express collab and I can 100% see her wearing this, with about 100 pounds of giant vintage jewelry of course. So here for that! It is so light, flowy and comfortable that you could seriously do a full cozy coffee shop workday in it, but it looks cocktail attire worthy. Basically, luxe pajamas, aka “get in my cart!”
One question I get a lot is what to wear under a blazer, that won’t make it look too “workwear” and corporate, if you’re aiming for a more dinner out/cocktail look. I love a top like THIS ONE, and THIS ONE to wear with a blazer and if you’re not into the cropped trend, a good bodysuit is always a great sleek classic option. I’ve linked more below. Happy shopping!
A big thanks to Express for partnering on this post!
