Francis Valentine mini dress, heels, coat, raffia mini tote, Lele Sadoughi scarab bracelet, scarab ring, Julie Vos mint bangle
Every season there’s a color that quietly starts showing up everywhere. At first it’s just a shoe here, a handbag there. Then suddenly you can’t stop noticing it. This summer, it’s red. Now, if you’ve followed me for a while, you know I’m usually reaching for pastels, turquoise, pink, or anything covered in florals before I instinctively grab something red. It’s never been the color that dominates my closet. But this season feels different. I’m not seeing red showing up as just a color, it’s becoming the inspiration itself, with whimsical cherry motifs, floral embellishments, sculptural details, and accessories that feel more like little works of art than basics.
That’s exactly why I’m finding myself drawn to it. The easiest way to wear the trend isn’t necessarily buying a bright red dress (unless that’s your style!). Instead, think of red as the finishing touch that brings everything else to life. A pair of cherry-red sandals instantly transforms a summer white eyelet dress. A woven bag with crimson accents adds personality to denim and a crisp button-down. A playful pair of cherry earrings becomes the conversation piece. (Swooning over these Jennifer Behr beauties!) Even a single flower appliqué on a shoe can completely change the mood of an outfit.
One of my favorite combinations this season is mixing soft sky and turquoise with tiny hints of red. It feels cheerful without being overpowering, and it’s proof that red doesn’t always have to be the star of the show to make an impact. (This Frances Valentine print is so fun!)
I’ve rounded up my favorite ways to incorporate this cheerful trend below, whether you’re ready to embrace head-to-toe red or simply want one perfect pop of color.
