Ever since my trip to Aurora New York, home to MacKenzie-Childs’whimsical production, I’ve been waiting anxiously to give my own home that touch of magic! As I walked through rows and rows of hand-crafted pieces, all at different stages of being created, in the design center, I couldn’t help but feel such a sense of nostalgia. It dawned on me that I don’t own a single piece of home décor that comes close to being this hand made. I wanted to change that immediately!
When I got home, I spent a lot of time looking through all the collections and narrowing down what I thought would work in our home for years and years to come. The Parchment Check Collectionwas a major stand out for me! With its neutral hues and the gorgeous hand dipped gold rims, I joked to Eric that it was designed just for me! The King’s Corners Collectionwas another big favorite, especially after seeing how the pieces are made, in such an intimate way. I thought it would be fun to mix and match the two together, for our holiday table. That’s another thing I LOVE about MacKenzie-Childs, with so many different patterns and colorways, somehow everything seems to mix and match together so seamlessly! It truly is like a little bit of magic!
When my pieces arrived, I immediately dropped everything and began to set the table and re arrange our kitchen! Such a blogger in me, but I just couldn’t wait to refresh our home with these new patterns! After I was done, I thought “Ah, I can’t believe Thanksgiving is still so far away! These need to go to use before that!” So, I decided we needed a holiday practice run! A whimsical tea party with the girls. They were all in. I mean, give them pie and magic wands and these two will show up anywhere!
I let the girls sit in the ‘big girl’ chairs and pick out all the treats they wanted. Basically, all their holiday dreams were coming true! As Charlie chowed down on a macaroon, Grace slowly looked over all the pieces. She takes after me in noticing every little detail and I love that about her! She said the beaded napkin rings were her favorite and asked if she could take one to her room. My little glam hoarder!
After we were done, and sticky hands were washed, I sent the girls upstairs for some quiet reading time. I stood looking at the table, with all its whimsy and felt so overjoyed that we will be making so many amazing holiday memories with these beautiful pieces. That in years to come I will pass them down to the girls and they will remember their first tea party, where mama told them they can go wild and there were no rules for how many treats they could have. It made my heart smile, and as I lovingly washed each plate, I crossed off another day until our next holiday table scape!
