My big girl’s Birthday is just around the corner and I can hardly believe she will be turning 9 this year! With just a bit of time to go, we both got to work deciding on her theme, color options and all the DIY projects we were going to tackle. I always feel so lucky that Grace inherited my love of crafting and loving all the little details when we work on projects together. This year we wanted everything to look extra custom, so our Cricut Joy machine would be getting a whole lot of use! First up, the theme. Grace was adamant about including our pup Winston, so she came up with the idea of making her party a “Bring your own dog” bash, with lots of pastels and lab details. Our first project was making custom cups for everyone, with Grace’s name and a number 9. I went with permanent vinyl, so the cups could be washable, and we went to work picking out the perfect fonts and vinyl colors. I love these sampler multi-color packs, so you can get 4 color options for smaller projects like this. We used Beachside and Hydrangeas packs. I love how the cups turned out and it was super simple. Pro tip: be sure to use transfer tape when transferring your stickers, instead of applying one letter at a time. This will make your projects SO much easier, while keeping the sticker true to design and straight.
Next were the invitations! We wanted something fun and silly, so finding this lab party invitation card option was beyond perfect! I love how the metallic paper peeks through the pastel card. Grace is so excited to hand these out to her friends!
Now the last part, a party hat for Winston! Afterall, he is our inspiration for the party. We thought the doggie cutouts from the invitation cards looked too cute to just toss, so we repurposed them for the doggie party hats, gluing down the paper and adding a 9 sticker. Three big pastel balloon garlands and lots of fun treats and this party is ready!!
Even if you are not a DIY lover, the Cricut Joy would be perfect for you! It’s super user friendly and the phone app makes all your projects quick and simple to design and print. It’s like your own little magical printer shop. Grace is busy planning more projects for us to add, for her special day and this mama was beyond happy to capture these sweet moments with my special girls and our mascot Winnie!
A big thanks to Cricut for partnering on this post!
