One of my very favorite parts of the holidays is getting a chance to decorate our home. Every year I try to do something a little different and this year I decided to go with a pastel color pallet. There is something so soft and whimsical about these colors. I wonder if my subconscious inspiration was watching Frozen on repeat with my daughter fifty times in the past months. Or maybe it’s because I have babies on my preggo brain and the pink and blue pastels were just calling my name.
I decided to create a focal point above our dining room table, using fishing wire to hang ornaments off the chandelier. This is an easy way to add a whole new dimension to your best ornaments and make them stand out more than they would on the tree. Plus this way you don’t have to worry about table decor for your holiday dinner, because it’s already there.
I carried the same theme through the tree and the rest of the house. A tip for doing a color refresher every year is to have your ‘nice’ more expensive ornaments be in neutral colors. Then buying a bulk stack of your chosen ‘accent’ colors. I bought a huge bin of the blue and pink pastel ornaments (probably over 100) for only $39 at Home Goods. Target also has great inexpensive bulk options. This way you can have the best of both worlds: a fresh take on your home decor every year, without breaking the bank.
And my favorite accessory? My little pups, Chase and Aggie. They wanted to be part of this shoot, so I couldn’t resist. They weren’t much help with the decorating, but always add lot of cheer to our house.
Wishing the happiest of holidays to you and your family. Hope Santa brings you everything you asked for and your home is filled with lots of love, and sparkle.
